work ready

Recently AJ wrote a really good post about her office uniform. After reading that post, I came to the realization that I gravitate towards neutrals for my teaching uniform. This summer, I have found myself intentionally putting together colorful outfits to avoid wearing black and white every day. The thing is though, I feel great in black and white. I feel confident and comfortable. On top of that, those outfits come together so quickly. No stress, effortless, just the way I like it.

You know what else I like? My new white tee. I mentioned in a recent budget rewind that I buy a new plain white tee every other year if not ever year. Granted, I'm generally spending $5-8 at Kohl's or Forever 21, so it's not a big deal. This time I spent a little extra and it has already been worth every penny. All 1,100 pennies.

[today this tee is only $5 with free shipping. use coupon code PICNIC. and then come back and thank me for telling you about this tee :) ]

  1. Yeah AJ's post definitely made a lot of sense. I know that my work uniform is mostly about the structure of the pieces and less about color, but knowing what makes you feel put together while still being comfortable in what you are wearing is the best. Also the best, your flats! I'm in love with them!

  3. I did have 3-4 work uniforms last time I had an office job. I love this outfit. I can re-create it with one of my striped scarves from Gap. You look great! =)

  5. lol. $11. But I'm sure it retailed at $29. I've always loved J.crew basics but only at their sale prices. That vintage cotton is soooo soft.

  6. Black and white is a classic color combo. My night shift work uniform is a t-shirt and jeans. I just moved department this week. So we will have to see what my uniform will be.

  7. I think it doesn't matter what white tee I get I still need to replace it after about a year. I just can't keep it all white! You are totally right about work outfits. Neutrals are the best especially if you are short on time. And they are always flattering! I love how your shoes look with this!

  8. I do have a work uniform not in terms of color but cuts. If I am meeting clients, I will stick with a pencil skirt, top, blazer and closed toe heels. Nothing fancy but I have to dress for the job and not for the blog. I love your outfit and those fun flats!

  9. I feel the same way about black and white outfits. They tend to be my favorites of the year too. Funny how that works.

  11. Yes! I am totally a work uniform kind of girl, and I also can't get enough of black + white (and gray thrown in there for good measure). I really like every little detail you're wearing here - the striped scarf and printed flats look great together.
