transitioning to spring

Despite the pleasant surprise of 70 degree weather this week, I'm not quite ready to don my summer garb as it's still technically winter. (Is it just me, or is wearing a dress or skirt without tights for the first time in months really awkward? I can't help but feeling I forgot to put pants on.) So how should we dress when the calendar says it's winter, but the weather says it's summer? I say by opting for a neutral canvas with the addition of colorful accessories. How do you transition from winter to spring?

  1. My transition to spring involves adding color back into my wardrobe. And switching to cardigans instead of heavy cable knit sweaters. It's been pretty hot here this week too. I'm not loving the 78° weather. I'm one of the few southerners that don't like warm weather.

  3. You look so happy in these photos and I love the bright cobalt on you. I pretty much wear the same thing year round that the transition is pretty seamless. I do tend to wear darker colors in the fall/winter to pretend it's cold :)

  4. I know exactly what you mean about getting used to no tights! The other day I wore my gray dress, and I kept checking the back of my legs because I was convinced that the dress was somehow tucked into my underpants. It never actually was, but I looked really cool constantly touching my own butt.
I really love this look, mostly because I want to steal your scarf.

  5. I feel like I transition back and forth several times with our flip flopping weather! I really like the idea of adding colorful accessories though. That dress is darling with cobalt!

  6. I think you have done a great job transitioning between seasons. Love the cobalt with that pretty gray sheath. Don't mind if I copy?!

  7. Oooh I love this, it's a great transition outfit, and totally how I'll do it once it gets warm enough to wear a dress without tights again (we're getting there!) I've been starting slowly with some bright colors and wearing more flats to work instead of boots!

  8. This outfit is perfect! I'm so with you. The first time I went for bare legs this year I felt so naked. I'm pretty sure my leggings and tights won't need to be brought out until the end of the year now, though. Which sadly means... I now have to keep up with shaving my legs again. Erggg.

  9. I think this is one of my favorites of your outfits! It does seem perfect for this awkward transitional season. I'm just dressing like summer, because I'm so hot! (temperature wise). I just feel like my bare legs are glowing because they are SO PALE.

  11. Such a cute outfit! I own the same dress, and your outfit inspired me to wear it with a yellow cardigan and an animal print scarf. Thanks for the inspiration!

  12. A bright cardigan is totally the way to go with transitioning into spring! I don't show my legs until the temperatures are in the 80s at the very least. That just means I have to shave my legs for the first time all winter. That'll be a fun time.

  14. Hahaha, I recently wore a dress without tights or leggings and I was sure that the dress was tucked in my underwear all day because it felt so breezy, haha! Awkward. But really, you look wonderful in this outfit - I love the gray and cobalt together, and that floral scarf is SO pretty! I recently got a cobalt and white striped top and I'm going to have to try it out with my gray ankle pants! :)
