what to wear: office party

Misty from Balancing a Hectic World and I have teamed up to bring you four different holiday looks this season. We've already covered what we would wear for Black Friday Shopping and for a Christmas parade. Today we're showing you what we would wear for an office party.

Be sure to visit Misty's blog and check out what she will be wearing for her holiday office party! Her dress is so pretty I might just have to steal it from her when she's not looking ;-)

My department doesn't have a holiday office party, but if we did, I imagine it would take place during working hours or immediately after. So if it's a matter of wearing something appropriate for both work and play, my strategy would involve mixing business with party. ha. But seriously, take a typical office wear formula (e.g., pants + shirt + blazer) and throw in some sparkle and some glam. Because after all, what says 'holiday' more than pretty and shiny?

Does your office host a holiday party? If so, what will you be wearing?

  1. Cute! I'm always on the lookout for ways to wear my own bright pink blazer. :)

  2. Love this with the bright pink blazer. No formal office party for me. We are doing a potluck lunch next week.

  4. I am loving this series and this third outfit today is my favorite so far. I also love all the options you listed with your other outfits, especially everything on the first row. Misty looks great also.

  5. Nice looks for an office party! I think skirts work for that occasion better than pants but your outfits look all really cute!

  6. I love the plaid with the pink blazer! It would be perfect for an office party! Our office party is going to be just after the work day so I have to find a similar outfit!

  7. this is a great holiday office party look! sadly, i can't imagine most people have the type of holiday party at their workplace where they could dress up in a sequined cocktail dress so i love this more practical outfit that still incorporates some glitz with the necklace and belt and holiday vibe with the great plaid.

  9. I love your options! My company doesn't have an official holiday party, but there is a very casual unofficial one tonight and I'm actually skipping it because I have other plans. We usually go to my husband's fancy Christmas party, but they changed the date this year, and we can't go. I was kind of sad - I love getting dressed up! I'll just have to make up an excuse to dress up and go out somewhere!

  10. I love all these looks especially the blazer and sequined one! My husband's work always has a pretty formal party. I need to go shopping tomorrow to see what I'll be wearing! I like the plaid and pink together! That is such a great blazer!

  11. I guess if the students' holiday parties count, then that's about it for me. Sometimes I wish I had a fancy holiday party to get dressed up for, but everything I attend is super casual. This is a great look for an office party (well, I'd imagine haha)

  12. This is such a great look! I hope this doesn't make me sound like a copycat/creeper, but I actually bought this blazer on Poshmark a few days ago after seeing it on your blog a couple times. Now I have another inspiration outfit for it :)

  14. I wouldn't have thought to pair that color blazer with your plaid top but I LOVE it! Our work Christmas party was right after school so I really did have the dilemma of choosing a work-appropriate outfit that was festive. This would have totally worked!

  15. I do love the sparkly part of the holidays! I think you created the perfect balance of work and play here. Loving your bling!

  16. I love this pink blazer on you Kate! You look so pretty! The plaid shirt, blazer, and statement necklace definitely give this look a festive touch. You both look holiday party ready! Classy and work appropriate! We just had our work holiday party on Thursday and I re-wore one of my blogging outfits that I posted a month ago lol. Most of them have never even heard of my blog, so it worked out for me haha! :)

  17. I swoon over that blazer every time you wear it. I just go straight from school to our work parties, so whatever is comfortable for the whole day teaching teenagers works for an hour of hanging out with other teachers. How terribly boring.
