two birds: cypress blazer

I have mixed feelings about the expression "to kill two birds with one stone". Yes, it's a great way of communicating efficiency, but on the other hand, I feel bad for the birds. What does this expression have to do with my post? As I mentioned yesterday, it's blazer week and Pantone week. Today's color is cypress. As soon I saw the color, I thought of my safari jacket. While by name it's a jacket, I'm not really sure that it can't count as a blazer. How would you explain the difference between a jacket and a blazer?

  1. Hahaha. You are too cute. I never really thought of the poor birds before. Now I will! And your jacket DEFINITELY qualifies! I was contemplating whether or not a cardigan would qualify today and I decided definitely not. Haha. A cardigan does not equal a blazer.

  2. Hmmm.. The collar on this jacket looks like a blazer and it kind of fits you like a blazer... lets call it a jazer. Anyways, I've never seen this jazer on you, I like it!

  3. As the completely unofficial judge of blazer eligibility this week, I'll allow it. I think it's structured so much like a blazer, that it counts. Plus, I just really like it.

  4. It's true! That phrase is terrible. What other two things can a person accomplish with one item? I also think it works as a blazer too. It's got so much more structure than my own cypress/olive colored jacket.

  5. I appreciate your sympathy for the birds :P You're too kind! And this blazer/jacket is fab-u-lous. I think it totally doubles as both, depending on how you wear it! As a layer for warm or as a layer for structure, perhaps?

  6. I had the exact same dilemma when I was planning for this week--does my olive utility jacket count as a blazer? In the end, I abandoned the idea of a blazer, but I'm not sure there's a huge distinction between the two categories. That jacket/blazer fits you beautifully!

  7. Sometimes those lines get blurred between jackets and blazers. I think it all depends on how you wear it! That blazer is so cute!I love the extra pockets on it!

  8. I agree, I think this jacket definitely qualifies as a blazer. And I never really thought about those poor birds. I really like this look with the bootcut jeans!

  9. So cute!! Love the jeans and boots.. I have a pair of Not Rated boots I got in lieu of the more expensive Vince Camuto pair, and they have lasted two years and un-count-able wears. Yes, I did just make that word up. :)

  10. Haha I actually think this is more on the blazer end of things, but I guess I can't really define why. Maybe the shape of the lapel makes me think blazer? I'm not sure. But I am sure that the color is great and you definitely killed two birds with one stone.

  11. I don't know but I feel like your jacket is a blazer just based on the collar and the fit. Call me crazy, but I wouldn't question you if you just called it a blazer.

  12. Oh my gosh, this is a total blazer! Look at the collar - that's what makes a blazer in my mind, haha! I really love colors going on here! And I just found a pair of bootcut/flared jeans that fit me amazing and I cannot wait to wear them ASAP in an outfit like this one!

  13. yay, way to find one item that works for both link ups! i wish i'd been that smart! is a blazer a jacket that has lapels or a collar? that's what i tend to think, but then i also tend to group all items into one category anyway just for simplicity's sake. either way, i love this outfit and the cut of your jeans - it's nice to see other people wear boot cut or flared jeans in a skinny jean world!
