the overwhelming scarf

This dress just won't stop working for me. If I didn't already have this dress, I'd run out and get this one today. Okay, maybe not today, but I really do think highly of my fit and flare dress from Old Navy. My scarf, on the other hand, is a different story. I loved it when I got it, but now every time I put it on, I feel like it's trying to eat me up. Do you ever feel this way about your scarves? If so, do you have any tricks to make your scarf seem less overwhelming?

  2. This is such a cute dress! It is a very flattering cut. I may have to go find one for myself :) I also have some scarves that overwhelm me, but I haven't figured out what to do with them yet! Those are ones that I don't wear much other than cold days.

  3. Fantastic dress! I actually have a grey one just like it. I got it at the end of June and really didn't have a reason to wear it until I came back to work. And then the first day I wore it, the zipper split (though I don't know why, it wasn't tight). Luckily I was wearing a cardigan over it and didn't even know it happened until I was taking it off at the end of the day. But I love the dress so much I'm just going to take it somewhere to get the zipper fixed.

  5. I love how you styled this! It's so adorable on you! I have scarves like this, too but typically I only wear them when it's super cold so I don't mind the fluffiness!

  6. Fit and flare dresses are the best! I like how you layered a short-sleeved blouse underneath it! THat scarf is a really pretty pattern - it does look a little poofy though...I wonder if it would look different tied a little differently?!! Who knows. Scarves are hard.

  7. I've said it before, and I'll say it again--you are such a pro at layering! I love the way your blouse looks underneath the fit and flare dress--it's like a whole new dress!

    1. Thank you :) Now that having different sleeves than the body of a shirt is so popular, I can recreate the look for less!

  8. Very fun layering! I bought the plaid blanket scarf last year from Zara and returned it because it was so big. I didn't know it was going to be so popular and should've sold it on ebay instead of returning it.

BTW, I am hosting my first link up on Thursday and hope you will join me.

    1. I will definitely join! Thanks for letting me know! Sometimes I think about selling stuff on ebay, but it all seems like so much work :/

  9. This dress is perfect! ! I'll have to check out the dress section at Old Navy I guess!

As for the scarf, I feel the same way about large summer scarves. Winter scarves aren't as big of a deal but summer scarves are best thin I think. Yours looks so lovely however, I don't think it overwhelms you at all!

  11. You are totally winning with that dress. One of my most versatile dresses is from Target, which is pretty awesome. I think the scarf looks really good - you are making me ready for it to be cooler here so that I can wear them!

  12. I think I'm going to copy this look tomorrow or sometime next week because I love the striped shirt under the dress. Except the weather is still acting hormonal, so I'm not sure the scarf thing is going to happen. 30 teenagers in a room makes for a sweltering (and sometimes smelly) classroom.

I find myself always fighting with certain scarves and experimenting with different ways to tie them so that they don't look weird on me. Sometimes, I wish all scarves were one life so as not to complicate my life. Of course, I'm sure I would then complain about being bored by the similarity. I'm so fickle.
