old and new favorites

I'm not sure exactly when my mom bought this lavender long-sleeve tee for me, but I do remember wearing it to an amusement park with the rest of my 8th grade class. It's been a favorite piece throughout the years because it's comfortable, it's purple, and it's a great quality. (Could you imagine anything you bought recently holding up 15 years??)

These shorts, on the other hand, are one of the newest additions to my closet (purchased a few weeks ago also by my mom). I've been wearing them just about every time I've left the house lately. They are so perfect.

So I say when you have two favorite pieces, wear them together! I wore this outfit the other day to the bank, and the teller complimented my shoes. I wore this outfit yesterday to the zoo, and I got to meet a bear cub! By which I mean that I got to watch it play in its pen, but it came up to me for a brief moment, sniffed my finger, and then scampered off to climb the fence. Best day ever.

ignore my chubby cheeks. focus on the bear cub.

  1. I feel like this outfit has now become a lucky charm, which means you should wear it again. And again. I have a pair of white pants that I've had since at least 8th grade, and I love the heck out of those things. They don't even look any different than they did in 8th grade. Does that mean we have vintage wear? How old does something have to be before it's vintage? I think my pants are 17 years old. Dear lord, I just realized they're older than some of my students!

  2. YES to this whole outfit! I can't believe you've had that shirt since the 8th grade! I'm not sure if anything from that long ago would fit me anymore. And I just love those flats. I think they pulled your whole look together!

  5. I would say this outfit is probably the best outfit ever if it involved a bear cub and you :) I seriously can't believe you've had this shirt since 8th grade... what!?!?!

  8. I really like the pastel colors together! I can't believe you've had that shirt so long! It still looks great! How cute you got to see a bear cub! My daughter loves seeing the bears at the zoo. That might be because we call her Claire Bear though!

  10. Wow that tee is from 8th grade? ? I am about 4 inches taller, my boobs have developed, and I'm 45 lbs heavier so nothing from 8th grade would fit me now haha. It still looks fantastic! So cute with those yellow shorts and adorable striped flats!

  11. OMG I have NOTHING left from that age. That's insane. And in such good shape, too. Crazy. I really love the combo with the shorts, though. Super cute!

  12. I know a woman who has items in her wardrobe for over 40 years! I do have clothes that are a few years old but not 15! I tend to thinkthough if you like it, it fits, looks good etc, then why chuck it? It doesn't look too old though. this is a simple yet stylish look.

  13. Love this color combination! I don't wear lavender nearly enough. I definitely would not fit into anything I wore in 8th grade!

  17. Oh good lord, if I wore what I was wearing in 8th grade, it would be like overalls and Old Navy/Gap/Abercrombie & Fitch logo tees....NO!!! Hahahaha :) I really like this outfit, by the way. There's something so relaxed, yet polished, about a long-sleeved tee with shorts!!
