matchy-matchy

I wore this outfit to the grocery store recently, in an attempt to wear something other than running shorts and a t-shirt to the store. My husband asked me why I was wearing longsleeves in May, to which I responded, "I'm trying out a new outfit." He looked me up and down. "You're too matchy-matchy. Black and white in your shoes and your sweater? You look ridiculous, and should probably change." Ha... ha. He's so funny.

I haven't worn these shoes in a blog post, let alone in a long time. I've had them for a decade, but can't even remember where I bought them. When I used to work at summer camp, everyone had them. They were the shoe to have. Apparently now they are the shoe to have (in white) in the blogosphere. Do you have Chuck Taylors? How do you wear them?

  1. Cute! I really like the color of your shorts. The color is so summery that I don't think it's weird at all that you have a long-sleeved shirt on :)

  3. He doesn't know what he's talking about, this looks great! =) Shorts and long sleeves (or 3/4 sleeves) is kinda my favorite! I have white Chucks now, but rocked a black and white knock-off pair in high school and college (when I was too broke for real Chuck Taylors haha)

  4. I wear long sleeved shirts with shorts all the time. I hope it's not weird! ;) The black and white and mint look really good together! And I have chucks, but don't wear them too much. I won't get rid of them though!

  5. bahaha - your husband sounds fun! I like Chucks, but I'm actually not a fan of the white ones I keep seeing everyone in. Mine are gray. I wear them quite a bit, but usually on the weekends when I'm running around in non-blog outfits.

My minty/green shorts don't fit anymore (blergh), and I really want a replacement pair. I like the look of those target ones, but they don't have the green online, and they don't have my size ANYWHERE in town. There's like 10 Targets. One should have them!

  6. Nothing like brutal honesty from your husband! I happen to think you look great in this outfit though and not matchy-matchy. I've been looking for a pair of shorts that exact color--I love the way they look with your black + white sweater!

  9. Guys are funny. I love your matchy-matchy look and since I have almost every single piece like you, I might just 'copy' it if you don't mind.

Enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend Break!!

  10. ugh, i get grief from my sister too when i wear long sleeves when it's warm outside. i'd rather wear long sleeves and deal with the heat during the time it takes to get to/from the car to a store or restaurant if it means i'll be comfortable in those places that have frigid a/c! anyway, i love the thick b&w stripes on your top and the colorful shorts! and i bought a pair of chucks in high school when i thought it was cool but then i never felt cool enough to pull them off, so they essentially went unworn... and i finally got rid of them during one of my closet purges this past year.

  11. Aww, I think you look adorable, Kate! I just recently wore a long-sleeved shirt with shorts as well, and I loved the outfit. I used to be a HUGE Chuck wearer...in college, I had 7 pairs at one point...totally unnecessary. The only neutral pair I have ever had was brown, and I suppose my sparkly silver ones I have now could be considered neutral, but I never had black or white. I'm really enjoying the shorts + sneakers look these days, so I'll definitely be wearing similar outfits until it gets too hot :)
