Pinspired: mustard + stripes

Today's look was inspired by this pin {left: Merrick's Art, middle: the daybook, right: me}. I was so focused on the belted cardigan and striped skirt, that I didn't take note of the belt placement and buttoning the bottom buttons of the cardigan, rather than the middle. I also wish my cardigan were brighter, but I can't justify getting a new one... at least not until this one falls apart. I hope this striped skirt never falls apart -- it is one of my favorite skirts! Easily the best $9 I've ever spent at Old Navy! I'm thrilled that the weather is getting warmer so I can wear it without tights. Do you have a striped skirt? Do you love yours as much as I love mine?

  1. You forgot to grab onto the bottom of your white shirt while looking down at the ground.

I don't see anything wrong with the brightness of your cardigan- looks good to me!

  2. OooOoh I might be copying this one from you next! I'm still not quite ready for skirts yet, but I'm definitely done with tights so I'll wait a while.

  3. Isn't it funny how the smallest details (like the buttoning of the cardigan) make a difference? This is definitely something I've learned since I started blogging. In any case, what a lovely look! I wish I had a striped skirt so I could replicate it!

  4. Ooh! I love this look! I happen to own very similar pieces too, so I will be pinning this for future reference.
I have a striped pencil skirt like yours, but I hardly ever wear it. Thanks for the reminder!

  5. I made the switch to maxi skirts today. If I'm being honest, it's because I pretty much crawled into work, and everyone is lucky I didn't wear my pajamas, which I almost did. It was "college" day at work, and my only college shirt was what I wore to bed the night before. ALMOST wore it to work. Instead, I opted for my school's colors instead. Probably a better decision. Speaking of good decisions, this pinspired look was a good decision. This skirt is seriously perfect on you, and I think I creepily write that every time you wear it. I'm with Kimmie about the color of your cardigan, but, hey, you can never have too many yellow cardigans I say. Okay, I don't really say that, but I have three; I have to justify my insanity somehow.

  6. Lol at Kimmie's comment. This outfit looks great! I'm hoping the same for my skirt too. And I can't for the life of me make my belt look like that. I try every time and it never works!

  8. We are so close to being No Tights compatible weather! Glad you are already there! I love this look and wore a mustard cardigan with my striped skirt earlier this year. It's seriously such a great combo! And I think your belt placement is better. There's is a little too low.

  9. I think I have this skirt but I didn't spend $9 on it. I have been really please with the quality of the skirt. I think the color of your cardigan looks great and this is a great recreation! I need to recreate it too :)

  12. I LOVE how this look fits together! Mustard's already my favorite, but the cardigan just looks great with the blouse and skirt. Stopping by from What I Wore to Work!

  14. I actually love the cardigan on you! And yes, my striped skirt is one of my favorite things in my closet. Hands down.

I also really really really wished you had posed with your head down...to complete the trifecta!! :) I'm only slightly joking, because Merrick looks great, AND it's one of my favorite moves too!

  15. KATE. You are so beautiful! I love this outfit so much, and I wish my striped pencil skirt had looked better on me because I would totally recreate this...but it just wasn't the right shape for my body. Sigh. Also, your hair looks so pretty and voluminous here!! :)

  16. Love it! The outfit is so cute and now I am going to be looking for pieces like this whenever I'm out shopping. Also...did you loop your belt like that, or is that just how it is? If you did it...tutorial please!

    Visiting from the link-up!

  18. It all goes together very well. How did you ever know that those disparate pieces would work so well as a whole? It's easy to tell what you like or don't like but building something you do is a whole different thing.
