Pinspired: shades of blue

Today marks day 3 of my week of Pinspired looks. Today's look was inspired by this pin {via Stylishly Petite}.

Some of my favorite moments on Pinterest are when I find outfits that I can recreate because I have all the pieces. Enter today's pin, and my gingham shirt, aqua sweater, and statement necklace. Figuring out what to wear on bottom was pretty easy. When I got this skirt last month, I created a few outfits with it, one of which was pairing it with a bright color.

I feel like a broken record for saying this, but I spent more time this morning than I care to admit stressing about what color shoes to wear. I finally opted for these teal wedges, but felt like a clown most of the day. I wish I could instantly know what shoes to wear with any outfit. I wish that when I made my decisions, I could be confident about them. I wish I could see the good and focus on it instead of dwelling on the bad.

Do you ever feel hesitant when you're trying something new? How do you find confidence in such hesitance?

  1. I hate it when they don't show parts of the outfit because then I am left wondering if what I chose was ok. I guess I find confidence in the fact that I don't see other fashion bloggers on a day to day basis so people will probably just think I look fine. I like the teal shoes. I think they balance it all out. I love how you made the pin your own!

  2. I really love this color combination! It's not one I would think of on my own, but it turned out beautifully.

  3. I really like this! I think the teal shoes look good, but would look better if it wasn't so dang cold and you could just have bare legs! Something about dark tights with light or colored shoes makes me feel awkward, too.

  5. i love this outfit soooo much, i just want to sing from the rooftops! ok seriously though, i could see myself wearing this, don't be surprised if my thursday's post is a replication of your replication of that pin, it is just that great! and i really admire you for wearing a bold shoe. i probably would have opted for black shoes since the top half is so colorful but also because i have that same trepidation. i was way too concerned on monday that the navy color of my sweater didn't match the navy print on my skirt!

  6. Another amazing duplicate outfit. You look so polished and put together. I have a similar blouse (just reds instead of blues) and I really don't know why I haven't styled it like the before.

Ugh, and the amount of time I waste trying to pick bottoms to go with the top I feel like wearing is probably excessive...

  7. Honesty I would've just gone for black shoes, so I admire you for putting in all that effort to taking a risk, even if you weren't personally happy with it (though I liked it)! I suppose the silver lining of your daily strife is the good choices it leads you to, the fun and interesting ones :)

  8. I probably would have defaulted to black shoes because I always have a hard time with black tights with other color shoes. This is a great outfit and you do not look like a clown at all - love all the shades of blue.

  10. I think the shoes look fantastic with this outfit! But I know that choice can be stressful. Sometimes I plan out an entire outfit except for the shoes, thinking I'll just know what to wear and then I'm trying on like 5 different pairs of shoes in the morning and liking none of them!

  11. The shoes are perfect. Sometimes, I start with shoes to make my life easier. If we didn't have to wear tights right now, it would make shoe selection MUCH easier. I find that picking out shoes when I'm not forced to wear tights is much easier. I wish I bought this skirt when I fell in love with it because I could be stealing so much inspiration from you.

    Dangit.

  12. I love different shades of blue together... I wear so many blue pieces and I love to combine them again and again in different ways. Nice look!
    Lots of love!

  14. I really like this, Kate. You look so great in these bright, bold colors! That skirt is so dang cute on you too. I often feel awkward about what shoes to wear as well - and I agree with other posters that the blue shoes probably wouldn't stand out so much if it was warm enough to have bare legs. Dang this cold weather!!
