grey and cobalt

Is it just me or is it hard dressing for fall when it's 70+ degrees outside? While I was considering wearing this skirt and shirt with a white top, I thought I should make the outfit more fall-y by opting for this grey top instead. I think I should have just stuck with what I wanted to wear, even if it was more of a spring look. (I should also probably not take outfit photos immediately after running errands.) Are you compelled to dress for the season? If so, how do you achieve a fall look in hot weather?

  1. I love this outfit! I think it looks great with the top you picked. I totally agree with wanting to dress for the season. I live in Louisiana, and it is HOT AS HADES down here. I keep longingly staring at my boots that I can't wear yet. I can't wait to actually dress for the season!
    Much love from Louisiana,

  2. I'm trying not to worry too much about the fact that it is fall, and just dressing for the weather! I guess I have felt like I can't wear my flat sandals anymore, but I think that's more due to temperatures. Your scarf looks so pretty with the blue skirt!

  4. Great choice on the gray shirt! I have my favorite pair of ankle pants in an almost mustard color. I figured the color is fall-ish while the length of the pants make them a warmer weather option.

  5. I really like this combination! I think I'm going to copy this =) I've been trying to find a balance between dressing for the actual weather and dressing for autumn but it's been hard!

  7. I know what you mean--I'm constantly torn between wanting to wear fall clothes but having to take off a few layers since it is still so hot around here.
Love this whole outfit, particularly the scarf though!

  10. I am still in very bright colors here in Southern CA and it's too hot to dress for fall unless it's early or late evening. I think I dress very similar all year round except with brighter colors in spring/summer.

Love this color combo! I just can't get enough of cobalt blue.

  11. I really like it with the grey top, i think it looks very pretty! and i recently read a post that suggested you still wear light fabrics and short hems, just wear fall *colors* (like plum and rust). I thought her outfits looked awesome and she wasn't dying in the heat, haha!

  12. I love your cobalt skirt! I have such a hard time trying to dress for fall because it is still 90 degrees in Texas :( I have two methods to try and pull off fall fashion in the heat- wearing short sleeves and skirts in fall shades like navy, burgundy and mustard; or light layering with vests and chambray shirts as jackets.

  13. Ah! So cute, Kate! I love this outfit - gray and cobalt do look lovely together. I will have to remember to pair my gray blazer with my cobalt dress, inspired by this outfit, of course! I also just got a cobalt scarf that I'm excited to pair with lots of neutrals :)
