unblogged dress

I'm not sure how it happened, but I've worn this dress multiple times without ever featuring it on the blog. (Do you have clothes that you wear frequently without featuring on your blog?) I bought it back in May and ended up wearing it shortly thereafter to our soccer team's barbecue. Then I wore it to the Plaza for a girl's day out. (Then a dinner with my father-in-law and brother-in-law, a date with my husband, and my mom's birthday dinner.) ...Which brings us to today!

Occasion: Attending class, meeting
Dress: Gap {option, option}
Cardigan: The Limited {similar}
Sandals: Mix No. 6 via DSW

I hadn't planned on wearing this cardigan all day long, but the a/c was cranked today. Even though the dress works with the cardigan, I'm not sure that I'll be able to wear it when the weather cools down. Do you think the colors and the white background make it strictly a spring/summer dress?

On the other hand, the right accessories can make all the difference. Maybe the trick would be to pair the dress with these flats (although I can't decided between festival blue, bright persimmon, and bronzed clay). Don't you think they'd look so nice with this dress? (Or am I just trying to justify allocating September's budget to them?)

  1. I think I remember seeing this with a chambray or denim shirt underneath, which looked great. Maybe that paired with some tan booties and it would get you into fall?? Love that dress, btw!

    1. Oh those are great ideas! I actually wanted to wear chambray underneath the dress, but the 95+ degree forecast turned me against that. I like the idea of pairing it with booties :)

  3. I think you could make this dress work for fall by adding a pair of tan boots! Or maybe even booties with a darker cardigan or blazer. Although I have to admit, I'd be using any excuse possible to buy those J. Crew flats in bright persimmon. :)

  4. I really love this dress! I kept hoping I would find it on sale, but never did. And I've had my eye on those J.Crew flats, too. I want the blue and the tan colors, but I want to try them on and haven't been to a store.

  5. THIS DRESS IS GORGEOUS. I recognized right away that it is from Gap since I remembered that beautiful Print. I wish I got the Pants in that print from this Summer. Anyway, so good that you wore it 7 times already (yes I counted). It would look great with either the Persimmon or the Blue Flats. I have seen those Flats on several bloggers and love them/want them myself.

    I would winterize this Dress by putting a Long-Sleeve Tee underneath either in Off-White or Periwinkle (with those Persimmon Flats) and that can make for a great Fall Look. For even cooler days I would do either a Black Long-Sleeve Tee with Black or Dark Patterned Tights & some Booties or Black Pumps. You can also try a Black, Royal Blue, Orange or Cobalt Blazer on top. You like any of my ideas? =)

    1. I do like your ideas! Thanks Ada! The more I think about it, the more I see that I can wear this in the fall. I wasn't so sure about winter, but maybe it will work with patterned tights as you have suggested! Now I just need the weather to cool down a bit so I can wear some of these outfits :)

  6. I love that dress!! I actually have the jeggings in that print, but if I didn't I would probably own the dress as well.

    It's such a pretty cut on you!

    I can definitely see this transitioning into fall, as long as you pair it with black (or any dark color) and some cute ankle boots.

    I'd definitely wear it with a thick, cozy sweater!

    1. Haha, I actually bought the shorts because I loved this print so much, but ended up returning them because I really didn't need them and anything I could do with shorts, I could probably do with the dress. I love the idea of pairing it with a thick, cozy sweater... only probably is I don't have one :(

  7. I wanted to buy this print in the shorts version and never saw the dress. I think you def can transition this dress into the fall with some tall brown boots and with some darker accessories (like a dark green cardi or shirt underneath).

  11. Love the dress! I think if you pick accessories that draw out the darker colors, like the deep green I think I see, that you can wear this into fall. I personally love keeping colors bright all year :)

  14. That dress is gorgeous! And I'd say you could totally wear it all year long. (Then again, I've never really been a fan of fashion rules.)

  17. Ah! That's such a great dress! I love, love, LOVE the print on it, and the colors are so lovely! I absolutely think this could work as a fall dress...any cardigans would look great with it...or even a denim jacket or a blazer? I think it would look lovely with boots, or maybe with tights and a fun pair of heels? The possibilities are endless :)
