Confetti Peplum

What's better than one story about shopping at Target? Two stories!

I found this top (on the clearance rack, of course) and fell in like immediately. I've been on the hunt for a colorful polka dot top since I came across this pin. When I saw this one on the rack for $8.48, it was pretty much a done deal. Light? Flowy? Colorful? Sold.

Good story, right?

Occasion: Attending Class
Top: Xhilaration via Target {exact}
Belt: The Limited {option}
Crops (in Drew): The Limited {sim, sateen}
Heels: by Chinese Laundry via Macy's {exact, patent}

Although I came up with a handful of ideas this morning on how to style this top (five colors in the top itself allows for lots of possibilities!), I couldn't decide on the pants. Boyfriend jeans were just meh, and colorful ankle pants looked silly. That's when I thought to myself, "what about your black ankle pants?" Hm. I have only ever worn them for days I teach. Could these pants make the transition from business casual to just plain casual?

Do you ever wear black (non-denim) pants for an everyday look?

  2. Definitely! I do wear black cropped pants for casual looks on the weekend. That's the fun part that they can be dressed up or down. I think your white pants would look great with this top. It's a great shirt!

  6. I almost went to Target this evening, because I needed to get milk, and thought it would be fun to peruse the clearance section, and then I decided to just hit the grocery store by my house. Now I am regretting my decision because this top is so cute!

  8. That is such a pretty top and it definitely works with the black pants! You can style this so many ways from pencil skirts to skinny jeans....I tend to go with more fitted options on the bottom when it coms to peplum:).

  20. I love it, Kate! You look super cute, and that color blue looks wonderful on you - but I'm beginning to think you look great in all colors! Lucky you! I love these pants and have been looking for a similar pair but haven't found anything I like well enough to spend money on yet. I lived in a pair of black chino shorts last summer and loved them so much - I feel like non-denim black ankle pants like these could serve a similar purpose :)
